Patna : India scored a paltry 124/7 in 20 overs in the 1st T20I against ODI World Cup winners England at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on March 12, 2021, night, thanks to Shreyas Iyer’s 67 in 48 balls with 8 fours and 1 six. Iyer fell to pacer Chris Jordan on the third ball of the last over. England had won the toss and opted to bowl.

India made a horrible start losing the wickets of openers : Lokesh Rahul and Shierrible, and captain Virat Kohli with only 20 runs on board. Rahul fell to fast bowler Jofra Archers for 1 while Kohli fell to spinner Adil Rashid for zero. Dhawan fell to fast bowler Mark Wood for 4.
