New Delhi : India has crossed the significant landmark of more than 80% national Recovery Rate. On a continuous stretch of high recoveries, India has also reported more than 90,000 recoveries for the third day in succession. A totalof 93,356 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours.

Altogether 12 States and UTs have registered Recovery Rate more than the national average and 79% of the new recovered cases are from 10 states/UTs. The total recovered cases were 43,96,399 on September 21, 2020. India tops the global figure of total recoveries. It accounts for more than 19% of the world total, according to a PIB release.

A total of 86,961 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours in the country and 76% of the new confirmed cases are concentrated in 10 States/UTs. Maharashtra has alone contributed more than 20,000 and Andhra Pradesh has contributed more than 8,000. As many as 1,130 deaths have been registered in the past 24 hours. Ten States/UTs account for 86% of the deaths in the last 24 hours due to COVID. Maharashtra reported 455 deaths followed by Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh with 101 and 94 deaths, respectively.

Punjab: In partial modification of Unlock 4.0 guidelines in compliance with the directives of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Punjab Government has allowed the students of class 9 to 12 to visit their schools in areas outside the containment zones only on voluntary basis for taking guidance from their teachers. However, this permission would be subject to the written consent of their parents/guardians from September 21, 2020, as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on September 8, 2020.

Kerala: Covid-19 situation continues to be grim in the state capital which has been witnessing over 800 daily cases. A total of 20 police personnel including an ACP in cantonment division tested positive on September 21, 2020. The ACP had led the police force during the protests staged by opposition parties at the secretariat and had also attended a function on September 21 in which the CM participated. City Police Commissioner has entered self-quarantine after his security officer tested Covid positive. The state death toll has risen to 536 with one more Covid fatality in Thiruvananthapuram.
