New Delhi : India reported 67,597 new Covid-19 cases on February 8, 2022, down from 83,876 cases on February 7, 2022, taking the tally of cases recorded so in the country since the outbreak of the pandemic to 4,23,39,611 at 8 am on February 8. 

The country, on the other hand, logged 1,188 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours, up from 895 deaths on February 7, 2022, taking the toll to 5,04,062 on February 8, 2022, including 1,43,098 in Maharashtra, 39,396 in Karnataka, .25,998 in Delhi, 23,330 in Uttar Pradesh, 12,239 in Bihar, and 5,313 in Jharkhand, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

On the positive side, a total of 1,80,456 patients recovered in last 24 hours, down from 1,99,054 recoveries on February 7,  taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic to 4,08,40,658 on February 8, 2022. India’s recovery rate (RR) stands at 96.46%.

India’s Active Caseload was 9,94,891 on February 8, 2022, a huge drop of 1,14,047 in last 24 hours. Active cases constituted 2.35% of the country’s total Positive Cases.

The last 24 hours saw a total of 13,46,534 sample tests being conducted in the country. India has so far conducted over 74.29 Crore (74,29,08,121) sample tests. The  Weekly Positivity Rate in the country was 8.30% on February 8, 2022, while the Daily Positivity rate was  5.02%.

Meanwhile, with the administration of more than 55.78 lakh (55,78,297) vaccine doses in last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 170.21 Crore (1,70,21,72,615) as per provisional reports till 7 am on February 8, 2022.
