New Delhi : India reported 15,981 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, down from 16,862 cases on October 15, 2021. New cases being reported are less than 20,000 for past 8 days now. Less than 50,000 Daily New Cases have been reported for 111 consecutive days now.
On the other hand, a total of 17,861 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours taking the tally of recoveries since the beginning of the pandemic to 3,33,99,961 in the country on October 16, 2021. India’s recovery rate stands at 98.08%, at its highest peak since March 2020, according to a Union Health Ministry figure.
The Active Caseload dropped 2,01,632 in the country on October 16, 2021, the lowest in 218 days. Active cases accounted for 0.59% of the country’s total Positive Cases.
With the administration of 8,36,118 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 97.23 crore (97,23,77,045) as per provisional reports till 7 am on October 16, 2021. This has been achieved through 96,05,482 sessions.
The last 24 hours saw a total of 9,23,003 sample tests being conducted in the country. India has so far conducted nearly 59 crore (58,98,35,258) cumulative tests.
The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.44% remains less than 3% for the last 113 days now. The Daily Positivity rate was 1.73% on October 16. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for last 47 days and below 5% for 130 consecutive days now.
