New Delhi : India, in an alarming development, reported 1,192 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours, up from 959 deaths on January 31, 2022,  taking the toll since the outbreak of the pandemic to 4,96,242 at 8 am on February 1, 2022. Rhe case fatality rate was 1.20% on the day.

India, however, reported only 1,67,059 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, down from 2,09,918 caseson January 31, 2022, taking the tally of cases recorded since the outbreak of the pandemic to 4,14,69,499 at 8 am on February 1, 2022.

On the other hand, a total of 2,54,076 Covid-19 patients recovered in last 24 hours, down from 2,62,628 recoveries on January 31, 2022,  taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic to 3,92,30,198 on February 1, 2022. India’s recovery rate stands at 94.60%, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

India’s Active Caseload dropped to 17,43,059 cases on February 1, 2022, a drop of 88,209 cases in last 24 hours. Active cases constituted 4.20% of the country’s total Positive Cases.

The last 24 hours saw a total of 14,28,672 sample tests being conducted in the country. India has so far conducted over 73.06 Crore (73,06,97,193) sample tests. The  Weekly Positivity Rate in the country was 15.25% on February 1, 2022, while the Daily Positivity rate was 11.69%.

Meanwhile, with the administration of more than 61 lakh (61,45,767) vaccine doses in last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 166.68 Crore (1,66,68,48,204) as per provisional reports till 7 am on February 1, 2022.
