New Delhi : With the decline in new cases continuing, India logged a total of 1,73,790 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours , down from 1,86,364 cases the previous day, taking the tally to 2,77,29,247 cases at 8 am on May 29, 2021. India’s Daily Recoveries continued to outnumber the Daily New Cases for the 16th consecutive day as a total of 2,84,601 recoveries were registered in last 24 hours taking the tally of patients cured to 2,51,78,011 on May 29, 2021.

The country logged 3,617 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the tally to 3,22,512 in the country on May 29, 2021. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients improved to 90.80 %  on May 29 from 90.34% on May 28, 2021

India has tested 34,11,19,909 samples so far including 20,80,048 samples on May 28, 2021. Meanwhile, a total of 20,89,02,445 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country so far including 30,62,747 beneficiaries on May 28, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

Active cases dropped to 22,28,724 on May 29, 2021, continuing the declining trend. Active Cases are declining since the last peak on May 10,  2021. A net decline of 1,14,428 was witnessed in the last 24 hours and active cases accounted for  only 8.04% of the total 2,77,29,247 positive cases recorded so far in the country on May 29.

The 3,617 new deaths included 973 in Maharashtra, 486 in Tamilnadu, 401 in Karnataka, 194 in Kerala, 154 in Uttar Pradesh, 145 in West Bengal, 139 in Delhi, 96 in Haryana, 67 in Chhattisgarh,  61 in Bihar, 60 in Uttarakhand, 56 in J&K, 27 in Gujarat, and 19 in Jharkhand. The country had recorded 3,660 new deaths on May 28, 2021.

The Covid-19 death toll in India on May 29, 2021, was : Maharashtra (93,198), Tamilnadu (22,775), Karnataka (27,806), Delhi (23,951), Andhra Pradesh (10,634), Uttar Pradesh (20,053), West Bengal (15,120), Gujarat (9,761), Madhya Pradesh (7,891), Rajasthan (8,181), Punjab (14,180), Telengana (3,226), J&K (3,795), Haryana (8,035), Bihar (5,004), Odisha (2,651), Jharkhand (4,945), Assam (3,168), Uttarakhand (6,261), Kerala (8,257), Chhattisgarh (12,915), Puducherry (1,476),  Goa (2,570), Tripura (498), Chandigarh (735), Andaman & Nicobar (113), Himachal Pradesh (3,056), Ladakh (187), Manipur (761), Nagaland (343), Meghalaya (544), Arunachal Pradesh (111), Sikkim (243), Mizoram (35), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (4), and Lakshadweep (29).
