Patna : India were reeling at 90/6 in 36 overs at stumps on Day 2 in their second innings in 2nd Test against New Zealand (NZ) at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, NZ, on March 1, 2020, as fast bowler Trent Boult took 3/12 in 9 overs while Neil Wagner, Tim Southee, and Colin de Grandhomme took one wicket each. Hanuma Vihari and Rishbh Pant (wk) were unbeaten on 5 and 1 run respectively at stumps on Day 2. India lead by 97 runs. Twenty-six wickets have fallen in just 2 days in the match.
Captain Virat Kohli’s horrible run on NZ tour continued as he fell lbw to Colin de Grandhomme for 14. Kohli had scored 3 in the first innings. Ajinkya Rahane, who had scored 7 in first innings, fell to Neil Wagner for 9 in second innings. Cheteswar Pujara fell to Trent Boult for 24 in 88 balls. Kohli had scored 21 ( 2 & 19) runs in 1st test. He has scored just 38 runs in four innings in two tests on NZ tour.
India lost their first wicket that of opener Mayank Agarwal at 8. Mayak fell to Boult for 3. His opening partner {rithvi Shaw fell to Tim Southee for 14 and it was 26/2. Kohli fell to Grandhomme and it was 51/3. Ajinkya Rahane fell to Wagner soon making it 72/4. Pujara fell Boult making it 84/5. Fast bowler Umesh Yadav also fell to Boult for a duck and it was 89/6. Umesh Yadav got a pair in the match.
Earlier resuming at their overnight score of 63/0, NZ were all out for 235 in 73.1 over in their first innings with fast bowler Mohammad Shami taking 4/81 while fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah took 3/62. Spinner Ravindra Jadeja took 2/22 while fast bowler Umesh Yadav took 1/46.
NZ openers Tom Latham and Tom Blundell scored 52 and 30 runs respectively. latham fell to Shami while Blundell fell to Umesh Yadav. Captain Kane Williamson fell to Bumrah for 3 while Ross Taylor fell to Jadeja for 15. Henry Nicholls fell to Shami for 14. B J Watling 9wk) fell to Bumrah for zero. Colin de Grandhome fell to Jadeja for 26. Fast bowler Kyle Jamieson, who had taken 5/45 in India’s first innings, scored 49 in 63 balls with 7 fours. He fell to Shami. Neil Wagner fell to Shami for 21.
