New Delhi : The surge in Covid-19 cases continues in India at an alarming rate as a total of 93,249 new cases were recorded in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,24,85,509 cases in the country at 8 am on April 4, 2021. On the positive side, a total of 60,048 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged during the same period taking the tally to 1,16,29,289 on April 4, 2021, the highest in a single day. India had recorded 89,129 Covid-19 cases on April 3, 2021, while 44,202 patients were declared cured. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients dropped to 93.14% on April 4, 2021, from 93.36% on April 3.

The Active cases (6,91,597) on April 4, 2021, accounted for 5.54 % of the total Covid-19 cases (1,24,85,509) recorded so far in the country, a huge jump of 32,688 cases in last 24 hours. India has tested 24,81,25,908 samples so far including 11,66,716 samples on April 3, 2021.  On the other hand, a total of 7,59,79,651 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 till date in the country including 27,38,972 beneficiaries on April 3, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll jumped to 1,64,623 in India on April 4, 2021, with 513 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 277 in Maharashtra, 49 in Punjab, 36 in Chhattisgarh, 19 in Karnataka, 15 in Madhya Pradesh, 14 in Tamilnadu, 14 in Uttar Pradesh, 13 in Gujarat, 12 in Kerala, 10 in Delhi, 10 in Haryana, 9 in Andhra Pradesh, 7 in Jharkhand, 5 in West Bengal, 5 in Telengana, 4 in Himachal Pradesh, 4 in Uttarakhand, 3 in Rajasthan, and 2 in Bihar. India had recorded 714 new deaths on April 3, 2021. The case fatality rate remained 1.32% in India on April 4, 2021.
