New Delhi : India, in a very significant development, registered 42,640 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases registered so far to 2,99,77,861 at 8 am on June 22, 2021. The country has reported less than 50,000 daily new Covid-19 cases after n 91 days.
In sharp contrast, a total of 81,839 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours taking the tally to 2,89,26,038 in the country on June 22, 2021. Daily recoveries continued to outnumber the Daily New Cases for the 40th consecutive day. The Recovery Rate (RR) increased to 96.49% on June 22, 2021. The Weekly Positivity Rate remains below 5%, currently at 3.21%. Daily positivity rate was 2.56% on June 22, 2021, less than 5% for 15 consecutive days.
Active cases dropped to 6,62,521 in India on June 22, 2021, less than 7 lakh after 79 days. Active cases dropped by 40,366 in last 24 hours in the country and accounted for 2.21% of the total Covid-19 cases recorded so far in the country.
The country recorded just 1,167 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the toll to 3,89,302 on June 22, 2021, including 1,18,313 in Maharashtra, 34,025 in Karnataka, 31,386 in Tamilnadu, 24,925 in Delhi, 22,224 in Uttar Pradesh, 17,390 in West Bengal, 15,854 in Punjab, 13,395 in Chhattisgarh, 10,034 in Gujarat, 9,557 in Bihar, 9,275 in Haryana, and 5,100 in Jharkhand.
Meanwhile, India administered 86.16 lakh vaccine doses in a single day on June 21, 2021, the highest ever single day vaccination achieved in the world so far. A total of 28.87 Crore. Vaccine Doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive, according to Union Health Ministry figure.The new phase of universalisation of Covid-19 vaccination commenced on June 21, 2021. Vaccination is an integral pillar of the comprehensive strategy of Government of India for containment and management of the pandemic, along with Test, Track, Treat and Covid Appropriate Behaviour.
