New Delhi : India logged 36,401 Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, up from 35,178 cases the day before, taking the tally of cases registered so far in the country to 3,23,22,258 at 8 am on August 19, 2021, continuing the trend of less than 50,000 Daily New Cases for 53rd  consecutive days .

On the other hand, a total of 39,157 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the country in last 24 hours, up from  37,169  on the day before, taking the tally to 3,15,25,080 on August 19, 2021, with the recovery rate (RR) further improving to 97.53%, the highest since March 2020, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

Due to high recoveries and a low number of new cases,  the Active Caseload in India further declined to  3,64,129 on August 19, 2021, a drop of 3,286 cases in last 24 hours, the lowest in 149 days Active cases accounted for only 1.13% of the country’s total Positive Cases on August 19, the lowest since March 2020.

Meanwhile, With the administration of 56,36,336 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed the figure of 56.64 Cr (56,64,88,433) yesterday. The feat has been achieved through 63,13,210 sessions.

The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 18,73,757 sample tests being conducted in the country. India has so far conducted over 50.03 crore (50,03,00,840) cumulative tests.

The Weekly Positivity Rate was 1.95% on August 19, 2021, less than 3% for the last 55 days. The Daily Positivity rate was  1.94% on August 19. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 24 days and below 5% for 73 consecutive days now.

India recorded 530 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the toll to 4,33,049 on August 19, 2021, with the case fatality rate being 1.34%.
