New Delhi : India logged 3,57,229 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded so far in the country to 2,02,82,833 at 8 amm on May 4, 2021, crossing 4 crore mark. In a significant development, a total of 3,20,289 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours in the country taking the tally of patients cured so far to 1,66,13,292 on May 4, 2021.  The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients was 81.91% on May 4, 2021. The country also recorded 3,449 new deaths in last 24 hours.

Active cases jumped to 34,47,133 in India on May 4, 2021, an increase of 33,491 in last 24 hours, and accounted for 17% of the total Covid-19 cases (2,02,82,833) recorded so far in the country. The country has tested 20,33,10,779 samples so far including 16,63,742 samples on May 3, 2021. On the other hand, a total of 15,89,32,921 people have so far been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India including 17,08,390 beneficiaries on May 3, 2021.

India recorded 3,449 new deaths in last 24 hours taking the tally to 2,22,408 in the country on May 4, 2021, including 70,851 in Maharashtra, 17,414 in Delhi, 16,20 in Karnataka, 14,468 in Tamilnadu, 13,447 in Uttar Pradesh, and 11,637 in West Bengal, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

Altogether 3,57,229 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours. Ten states including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh reported 71.71% of the new cases. Maharashtra reported the highest daily new cases at 48,621 in last 24 hours. It is followed by Karnataka with 44,438 while Uttar Pradesh reported 29,052 new cases.

Twelve States including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Bihar, and Haryana cumulatively account for 81.41% of India’s total Active Cases and each of them account for more than 1 lakh active cases.

The National Mortality Rate has been falling and currently stands at 1.10%. 3,449 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. Ten States account for 73.15% of the new deaths. Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties (567) followed by Delhi (448) and Uttar Pradesh with 285 daily deaths.
