New Delhi : India registered 3,48,421 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours taking the tally to 2,33,40,938 cases in the country at 8 am on May 12, 2021. But, the single day recoveries exceeded the new cases in the country for the second successive day after several days, a very significant development. A total of 3,55,338 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours in the country taking the tally to 1,93,82,642 o May 12, 2021, with the recovery rate (RR) improving to 83.04% from 82.75% on May 11, 2021.
Active cases dropped to 37,04,099 cases in India on May 12 from 37,15,221 cases on May 11, 2021, and accounted for 15.87 % of the total Covid cases (2,33,40,938) recorded so far in the country, a decline of 11,122 cases in last 24 hours. India has tested a total of 30,75,83,991 samples so far including 19,83,804 samples on May 11, 2021. Meanwhile, altogether 17,52,35,991 people have so far been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India including 24,46,674 beneficiaries on May 11, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
India also recorded 4,205 new deaths in last 24 hours taking the tally to 2,54,197 in the country on May 12, 202. The new deaths included 793 in Maharashtra, 480 in Karnataka, 347 in Delhi, 301 in Uttar Pradesh, 298 in Tamilnadu, 214 in Punjab, 199 in Chhattisgarh, 169 in Rajasthan, 144 in Haryana, 132 in West Bengal, 118 in Uttarakhand, 118 in Gujarat, 103 in Jharkhand, 94 in Madhya Pradesh, 75 in Goa, 72 in Bihar, and 65 in J&K. India had recorded 3,876 new deaths on May 11, 2021.
The Covid-19 death toll in India on May 12, 2021, was : Maharashtra (77,191), Tamilnadu (16,178), Karnataka (19,852), Delhi (20,010), Andhra Pradesh (8,791), Uttar Pradesh (16,043), West Bengal (12,593), Gujarat (8,629), Madhya Pradesh (6,595), Rajasthan (5,994), Punjab (10,918), Telengana (2,803), J&K (2,847), Haryana (5,910), Bihar (3,429), Odisha (2,215), Jharkhand (4,085), Assam (1,838), Uttarakhand (4,014), Kerala (5,958), Chhattisgarh (10,941), Puducherry (1,018), Goa (1,804), Tripura (422), Chandigarh (585), Andaman & Nicobar (78), Himachal Pradesh (2,002), Ladakh (157), Manipur (509), Nagaland (156), Meghalaya (242), Arunachal Pradesh (68), Sikkim (177), Mizoram (23), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (4), and Lakshadweep (10).
