New Delhi : India recorded 25,072 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, down from 30,948 on the the day before, taking the tally of cases registered so far in the country to 3,24,49,306 at 8 am on August 23, 2021. Less than 50,000 Daily New Cases has been reported for 57 consecutive days now.
In sharp contrast, a total of 44,157 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the country in last 24 hours taking the tally to 3,16,80,626 on August 26, 2021, with the recovery rate further improving to 97.63% from 97.57% on August 22, 2021, the highest since March 2020, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
The Active cases count was 3,33,924 on August 23, 2021, a drop 19,474 cases in last 24 hours, the lowest in 155 days. Active cases account for only 1.03% of the country’s total Positive Cases, the lowest since March 2020.
India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed the cumulative figure of 58.25 crore (58,25,49,595) as per provisional reports till 8 am on August 23, 2021. This has been achieved through 64,69,222 sessions. A total of 12,95,160 sample tests were conducted in India in last 24 hours.The country has conducted over 50.75 crore (50,75,51,399) cumulative tests so far.
While testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.91% remains less than 3% for the last 59 days now. The Daily Positivity rate was at 1.94%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 28 days and below 5% for 77 consecutive days now.
