New Delhi :  With the terrifying spike continuing, India recorded a massive 2,34,692 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,45,26,609 cases in the country at 8 am on April 17, 2021. On the positive side, a total of 1,23,354 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the country in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,26,71,220 on April 17, 2021. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients further dropped to 87.23 % in India on April 17, 2021.

Active cases (16,79,740) on April 17, 2021, accounted for 11.56% of the total Covid-19 cases (1,45,26,609) recorded so far in India, an increase of 1,09,997 cases in last 24 hours. The country has tested 26,49,72,o22 samples so far including 14,95,397 samples on April 16, 2021. Meanwhile, a total of 11,99,37,641 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 30,04,544 beneficiaries ob April 17, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll jumped to 1,75,649 in India on April 17, 2021, with 1,341 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 398 in Maharashtra, 138 in Chhattisgarh, 141 in Delhi, 103 in Uttar Pradesh, 94 in Gujarat, 78 in Karnataka, 60 in Madhya Pradesh, 56 in Jharkhand, 50 in Punjab, 33 in Tamilnadu, 31 in Rajasthan, 26 in West Bengal, 21 in Kerala, 20 in Haryana, 20 in Andhra Pradesh, 17 in Uttarakhand, 12 in Telengana, and 13 in Bihar.
