New Delhi : India recorded 20,346 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours outpacing the number of patients cured/discharged during the same period after several days. With it the number of Covid-19 cases recorded so far in India rose to 1,03,95,278 at 8 am on January 7, 2021.

On the other hand, 19,587 Covid patients were cured/discharged in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,00,16,859 (crossing  one crore mark) on January 7, 2021, exceeding the number of active cases ( 2,28,083) by a huge margin of 97,88,778. The active cases accounted for just 2.19 % of the total cases ( 1,03,95,278) on January 7, 2021, an increase of 537 cases in last 24 hours.

Of the 1,03,95,278 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in India, altogether 1,00,16,859 patients have been cured/discharged with the recovery rate (RR) being 96.36%. India has tested 17,84,00,995 samples so far including 9,37,590 samples on January 6, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll increased to 1,50,336 in India on January 7, 2021, with 222 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 66 in Maharashtra, 25 in Kerala, 22 in West Bengal, 16 in Delhi, 11 in Tamilnadu, 10 in Chattisgarh, 8 in UttarPradesh, 8 in Madhya Pradesh, 8 in Punjab, 7 in Haryana, 6 in Karnataka, 5 in Bihar, 5 in Uttarakhand, 4 in Gujarat, 4 in Rajasthan, 3 in Andhra Pradesh, and 2 in Jharkhand.  India had recorded 264 new deaths on January 6, 2021.

COVID-19 death toll in India on January 7, 2021, was : Maharashtra (49,825), Tamilnadu (12,188), Karnataka (12,124), Delhi (10,625), Andhra Pradesh (7,125), Uttar Pradesh (8,441), West Bengal (9,863), Gujarat (4,329), Madhya Pradesh (3,670), Rajasthan (2,723),  Punjab (5,412), Telengana (1,559), J&K (1,900), Haryana (2,934), Bihar (1,420), Odisha (1,887), Jharkhand (1,040), Assam (1,057), Uttarakhand (1,549), Kerala (3,209), Chhattisgarh (3,447), Puducherry (635), Goa (744), Tripura (387), Chandigarh (322), Andaman & Nicobar (62), Himachal Pradesh (952), Ladakh (127), Manipur (363), Nagaland (80), Meghalaya (141), Arunachal Pradesh (56), Sikkim (129), Mizoram (8), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2).
