New Delhi : The frightening spurt in Covid-19 cases continues in India as 1,32,968 new cases were recorded in the country in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,30,60,542 cases at 8 am on April 9, 2021. India had recorded 1,26,789 new Covid-19 cases on April 8, 2021. On the positive side, a total of 61,899 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the country in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,19,13,292 on April 9, 2021, surge of 69,289 cases in last 24 hours. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients further dropped to 91.22% on April 9, 2021, from 91.67% on April 8.
Active cases (9,79,608) on April 9, 2021, accounted for 7.5% of the total Covid-19 cases (1,30,60,542) recorded so far in the country. India has tested 25,40,41,584 samples so far including 13,64,205 samples on April 8, 2021. Meanwhile, a total of 9,43,34,262 persons have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 36,91,511 beneficiaries on April 8, 2021.
The Covid-19 toll jumped to 1,67,642 in India on April 9, 2021, with 780 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 376 in Maharashtra,94 in Chhattisgarh, 56 in Punjab, 39 in Uttar Pradesh, 36 in Karnataka, 35 in Gujarat, 27 in Madhya Pradesh, 24 in Delhi, 19 in Tamilnadu, 18 in Kerala, 11 in Haryana, 7 in West Bengal, 7 in Jharkhand, 6 in Andhra Pradesh, 6 in Himachal Pradesh, 5 in Telengana, and 4 in Bihar. India had recorded 685 new deaths on April 8, 2021. The case fatality rate dropped to 1.28% in India on April 9, 2021.
