New Delhi : A record 1,15,736 new Covid-19 cases were registered in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,28,01,785 cases in the country at 8 am on April 7, 2021, as the spike continues at an alarming rate. The country had recorded 96,982 new Covid-19 cases on April 6. On the positive side, a total of 59,856 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in India in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,17,92,135 in the country on April 7, 2021. A total of 50,143 Covid-19 were declared cured in the country on April 6. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients further dropped to 92.11% on April 7, 2021, from 92.48% on April 6, 2021

The Active cases (8,43,473) on April 7, 2021, accounted for 6.59% of the total Covid-19 cases ( 1,28,01,785) recorded so far in the country, a massive jump of 55,250 cases in last 24 hours. India has tested 25,14,39,598 samples so far including 12,08,329  samples on April 6. 2021. On the other hand, altogether 870,77,474 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country so far including 33,37,601 beneficiaries on April 6, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,66,177 in India on April 7, 2021, as 630 new deaths were recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 297 in Maharashtra, 61 from Punjab, 53 in Chhattisgarh, 39 in Karnataka, 30 in Uttar Pradesh, 18 in Madhya Pradesh, 17 in Delhi, 17 in Gujarat, 15 in Tamilnadu, 14 in Kerala, 13 in Rajasthan, 9 in Haryana, 7 in Andhra Pradesh, 7 in West Bengal, 7 in Uttarakhand, 5 in Telengana, 4 in Jharkhand, and 2 in Bihar. India had recorded 446 new deaths on April 6, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll in India on April 7, 2021, was : Maharashtra (56,330), Tamilnadu (12,804), Karnataka (12,696), Delhi (11,113), Andhra Pradesh (7,251), Uttar Pradesh (8,924), West Bengal (10,355), Gujarat (4,598), Madhya Pradesh (4,073), Rajasthan (2,854), Punjab (7,216), Telengana (1,734), J&K (2,012), Haryana (3,208), Bihar (1,588), Odisha (1,922), Jharkhand (1,144), Assam (1,111), Uttarakhand (1,736), Kerala (4,694), Chhattisgarh (4,416), Puducherry (686), Goa (838), Tripura (393), Chandigarh (386), Andaman & Nicobar (62), Himachal Pradesh (1,081), Ladakh (130), Manipur (374), Nagaland (92), Meghalaya (150), Arunachal Pradesh (56), Sikkim (136), Mizoram (11), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2), and Lakshadweep (1).
