New Delhi : The spike in Covid-19 cases continues at disconcerting pace in India as for the first time 1,03,558 new cases were recorded in the country in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,25,89,067 cases at 8 am on April 5, 2021. India had recorded 93,249 new Covid-19 cases on April 4, 2021. On the positive side, a total of 52,847 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the country in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,16,82,136 on April 5, 2021. A total of 60,040 patients were declared cured on April 4, 2021. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients further dropped to 92.80% in India on April 5 from 93.14% on April 4, 2021.

The Active cases ( 7,41,830) on April 5. 2021, accounted for 5.89% of the total Covid-19 cases (1,25,89,067) recorded so far in India, a massive jump of 50,233 cases in last 24 hours. India has tested a total of 24,90,19,657 samples so far including 8,93,749 samples on April 4, 2021. On the other hand, altogether 7,91,05,163 people have so far been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country including 16,38,464 beneficiaries on April 4.

The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,65,101 in India on April 5, 2021, with 478 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 222 in Maharashtra, 51 in Punjab, 36 in Chhattisgarh, 31 in Uttar Pradesh, 21 in Delhi, 15 in Karnataka, 14 in Tamilnadu, 14 in Gujarat, 11 in Madhya Pradesh, 10 in Kerala, 10 in Himachal Pradesh, 8 in Jharkhand, 7 in Haryana, 6 in Telengana, 5 in Andhra Pradesh, 4 in West Bengal, 2 in Uttarakhand, and 1 in Bihar. India had recorded 513 new deaths on April 4, 2021, and 714 new deaths on April 3, 2021.
