New Delhi : In an important development, India reported less than 60,000 daily new Covid-19 cases after 81 days. The country reported 58,419 New Cases in the last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded so far to 2,98,81,965 cases at 8 am on June 20, 2021, continuing a sustained slide in the daily new Covid-19 cases. Less than 1 lakh Daily New Cases have been reported for 13 continuous days now.
India recorded 1,576 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the toll to 3,86,713 on June 20, 2021, including 1,17,356 in Maharashtra, 33,763 in Karnataka, 31,015 in Tamilnadu, 24,907 in Delhi, 22,132 in Uttar Pradesh. and 15,802 in Punjab.
The country has also been witnessing a continuous fall in the active caseload. The country’s Active Caseload on June 20, 2021, was 7,29,243, a net decline of 30,776 cases in last 24 hours and accounted for only 2.44% of the total Positive Cases ( 2,98,81,965) on June 20, 2021.
As more people are getting recovered from Covid-19 infection, India’s Daily Recoveries continued to outnumber the Daily New Cases for 38 consecutive days on June 20, 2021. A total of 87,619 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 2,87,66,009 on June 20. A total of 29,200 more recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours as compared to the daily new cases, according to a PIB release.
Out of the 2,98,81,965 people infected since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,87,66,009 people have already recovered from Covid-19. A total of 87,619 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. This constitutes an overall recovery rate of 96.27% on June 20, 2021, a sustained increasing trend.
With substantially ramped up testing capacity across the country, a total of 18,11,446 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country. Cumulatively, India has tested 39,10,19,083 samples tests so far. A continued decline in weekly case positivity has also been noticed. Weekly Positivity Rate is currently at 3.43% while the Daily Positivity rate was 3.22% on June 20, 2021. It has remained less than 5% for 13 consecutive days now.
A total of 27,66,93,572 vaccine doses have been administered in the country through 37,91,686 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on June 20, 2021. Altogether 38,10,554 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
