New Delhi : India recorded 45,892 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours exceeding the daily recoveries by 1,601 after a long time, taking the tally of cases registered so far in the country to 3,07,09,557 at 8 am on July 8, 2021. Less than 50,000 Daily New Cases have been reported for the 11th consecutive day.

On the other hand, a total of 44,291 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours taking the tally to 2,98,43,825 on July 8, 2021. This constitutes an overall recovery rate (RR) of 97.18% showing a sustained increasing trend.

India registered 817 new deaths due to Covid-19 taking the toll to 4,05,028 on July 8, 2021,  including 1,23,857 in Maharashtra, 35,601 in Karnataka, 33,196 in Tamilnadu, 25,005 in Delhi, 22,666 in Uttar Pradesh, 17,850 in West Bengal, 16141 in Punjab, 14108 in Kerala, 9,612 in Bihar, 7,338 in Uttarakhand, and 5118 in Jharkhand. 

India’s Active Caseload on July 8, 2021, was 4,60,704 on July 8, an increase of 784 cases in last 24 hours. Active cases now account for only 1.50% of the country’s total Positive Cases, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

India’s cumulative vaccination coverage exceeded 36.48 crore as per the provisional report till 7 am on July 8, 2021. A total of 36,48,47,549 vaccine doses have been administered through 47,40,833 sessions, as per the provisional report. A total of  33,81,671 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.

With substantially ramped up testing capacity across the country, a total of 18,93,800 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country. Cumulatively, India has conducted over 42.52 crore (42,52,25,897) tests so far.

While on one side testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, a continued decline in weekly case positivity is noticed. Weekly Positivity Rate is currently at 2.37% while the Daily Positivity rate was 2.42% on July 8, 2021. Daily Positivity rate has remained less than 3% for 17 consecutive days now, and has remained below 5% for over a month.
