New Delhi : India registered 38,079 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded so far in the country to 3,10,64,908 at 8 am on July 17, 2021. Less than 50,000 Daily New Cases have been reported for twenty consecutive days.
On the other hand, a total of 43,916 Covid-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 3,02,27,792 exceeding the new cases by 5,837. This constitutes an overall recovery rate of 97.31%, showing a sustained increasing trend.
India’s Active Caseload on July 17, 2021, was 4,24,025, a drop of 6,397 cases in last 24 hours and accounted for 1.36% of the country’s total Positive Cases. a continued decline in weekly case positivity is noticed. Weekly Positivity Rate was 2.10% on July 17, 2021, while the Daily Positivity rate was 1.91%. Daily Positivity rate has remained less than 3% for 26 consecutive days.
Meanwhile, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage is nearing the landmark of 40 crore. Cumulatively, 39,96,95,879 vaccine doses have been administered through 50,09,914 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on July 17, 2021. Altogether 42,12,557 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours. The new phase of universalisation of Covid-19 vaccination commenced from June 21, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
With substantially ramped up testing capacity across the country, a total of 19,98,715 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country. Cumulatively, India has conducted over 44.20 crore (44,20,21,954) tests so far.
India logged 560 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the toll to 4,13,091 on July 17, 2021, including 1,26,727 in Maharashtra, 36,079 in Karnataka, 33,652 in Tamilnadu, 25,023 in Delhi, 22,711 in Uattar Pradesh, 17,980 in West Bengal, 9,626 in Bihar, and 5,120 in Jharkhand.
