New Delhi : With the surge continuing at a frightening pace, India logged 3,46,786 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,66,10,481 cases in the country at 8 am on April 24, 2021, up from 3,32,730 new cases on April 23, 2021. On the positive side, a record 2,19,838 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours, the highest single day recoveries, taking the tally to 1,38,67,997 on April 24, 2021. On April 23, 2021, a total of 1,93,279 Covid-19 patients were declared in the country. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients was 83.49% in India on April 24 from 83.92 % on April 23, 2021.
Active cases jumped to 25,52,940 in India on April 24, 2021, a massive increase of 1,24,324 cases in last 24 hours, and accounted for 15.37% of the total Covid-19 cases ( 1,66,10,481) recorded so far in the country. The country has tested 27,61,99,222 samples so far including 17,53,569 samples on April 23, 2021. On the other hand, a total of 13,83,79,832 people have so far been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the countryincluding 29,01,412 beneficiaries on April 23, 2021.
The Covid-19 death toll climbed to 1,89,544 in India on April 24, 2021, with 2,624 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hour including 773 in Maharashtra, 348 in Delhi, 219 in Chhattisgarh, 196 in Uttar Pradesh, 190 in Karnataka, 142 in Gujarat, 78 in Tamilnadu, 75 in Punjab, 74 in Madhya Pradesh, 64 in Rajasthan, 63 in Jharkhand, 60 in Haryana, 59 in West Bengal, 54 in Bihar, 49 in Uttarakhand, 38 in Andhra Pradesh, 33 in Telengana, 27 in Kerala, 26 in Himachal Pradesh, and 12 in Goa. India had logged 2,263 new deaths on April 23, 2021. The case fatality rate dropped to 1.14 % in India on April 24, 2021.
