New Delhi : With the surge in pandemic continuing at a terrifying speed, India logged 3,14,835 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, the highest single day detection across the world, taking the tally to 1,59,30,965 cases in the country at 8 am on April 22, 2021. India had recorded 2,95,041 new cases on April 21, 2021. On the positive side, a total of 1,78,841 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in India in last 24 hours, the highest single day recoveries since the outbreak of the disease, taking the tally to 1,34,54,880 in the country on April 22, 2021. A total of 1,67,457 Covid-19 patients were declared cured in the country on April 21, 2021. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients dropped to 84.46% in India on April 22 from 85.01% on April 21, 2021.
Active cases jumped to 22,91,428 in India on April 22, 2021, a massive increase of 1,33,890 cases in last 24 hours. The country has tested 27,27,05,103 samples so far including 16,51,711 samples on April 21, 2021. On the other hand, altogether 13,23,30,644 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 22,11,334 beneficiaries on April 21, 2021.
The Covid-19 death toll climbed to 1,84,657 in India on April 22, 2021, as a total of 2,104 new deaths were recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 568 in Maharashtra, 249 in Delhi, 193 in Chhattisgarh, 187 in Uttar Pradesh, 125 in Gujarat, 116 in Karnataka, 75 in Madhya Pradesh, 69 in Punjab, 62 in Rajasthan, 62 in Jharkhand, 58 in West Bengal, 56 in Bihar, 53 in Tamilnadu, 45 in Haryana, 38 in Andhra Pradesh, 34 in Uttarakhand, 23 in Telengana, 22 in Kerala, 17 in Himachal Pradesh, 17 in Goa, and 13 in J&K. India had recorded 2,023 new deaths on April 21, 2021. Meanwhile, the case fatality rate dropped to 1.16% in India on April 22 from 1.17% on April 21, 2021.
