New Delhi : India reported 2,71,202 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country to 3,71,22,164 at 8 am on January 16, 2022. The country had reported 2,68,833 new Cobid-19 cases on January 15, 2022. The country has reported 7,743 Omicron cases so far; an increase of 28.17% since January 15, 2022.
On the other hand, a total of 1,38,331 Covid-19 patients recovered in last 24 hours in the country taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic to 3,50,85,721 on January 16, 2022. India’s recovery rate stands was 94.51% on the day.
India’s Active Caseload was 15,50,377 at 8 am on January 16, 2022, an increase of 1,32,557 cases in last 24 hours. Active cases constituted 4.18% of the country’s total Positive Cases on the day, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
The country recorded 314 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the toll to 4,86,066 in the country on January 16, 2022. The case fatality rate was 1.31% on January 16.
The last 24 hours saw a total of 16,65,404 sample tests being conducted in the country. India has so far conducted over 70.24 Crore (70,24,48,838) sample tests. The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country was 13.69% on January 16, 2022, while the Daily Positivity rate was 16.28%.
With the administration of more than 66 lakh (66,21,395) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 156.76 Crore (1,56,76,15,454) as per provisional reports till 7 am on January 16, 2022.
