New Delhi : India registered 25,166 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, down from 32,937 cases on August 16, taking the tally of cases recorded so far in the country to 3,22,50,679 at 8 am on August 17, 2021. India has reported its lowest daily new cases (25,166) in 154 days.
On the other hand, a total of 36,830 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the country in last 24 hours, up from 35,909 cases on August 16, taking the tally to 3,14,48,754 in the country with the recovery rate (RR) improving to 97.51%, the highest since March 2020, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
India’s Active Caseload count was 3,69,846 on August 17, 2021, a drop of 12,101 cases in last 24 hours. This is lowest in 146 days. Active cases now constitute only 1.15% of the country’s total Positive Cases which is lowest since March 2020. India’s Active caseload count was 3,81,947 on August 16, 2021.
Meanwhile, India administered more than 88.13 lakh doses in last 24 hours under its Nationwide Vaccination drive. This is highest ever vaccination achieved in a single day since the start of the vaccination drive. Along with this, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage reached the milestone of 55 crore milestone on August 16, 2021. Cumulatively,55,47,30,609 vaccine doses have been administered so far through 62,12,108 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on August 17, 2021.
A total of 15,63,985 sample tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country. Cumulatively, India has conducted over 49.66 crore (49,66,29,524) tests so far.
The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.98% remains less than 3% for last 53 days now. The Daily Positivity rate was 1.61% on August 17, 2021. Daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for last 22 days and below 5% for 71 consecutive days now.
India logged 437 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the toll to 4,32,079 on August 17, 2021, withe the case fatality rate being 1.34%.
