New Delhi : India reported 2,38,018 new Covid-19 cases including Omicron cases in last 24 hours, down from 2,58,089 cases on January 17, 2022, morning, taking the tally of cases recorded since the outbreak of the pandemic to 3,76,18,271 at 8 am on January 18, 2022. A total of 8,891 Omicron cases have been detected so far; an increase of 8.31% since January 17, 2022.
On the other hand, altogether 1,57,421 Covid-19 patients recovered in last 24 hours taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic to 3,53,94,882 at 8 am on January 18, 2022. India’s recovery rate stands at 94.09%.
India’s Active Caseload was 17,36,628 on January 18, 2022, morning, an increase of 80,287 cases in last 24 hours. Active cases constituted 4.62% of the country’s total Positive Cases on January 18, 2022, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
India logged 310 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the toll to 4,86,761 on January 18, 2022. The case fatality rate dropped to 1.29% on the day.
The last 24 hours saw a total of 16,49,143 sample tests being conducted in the country. India has so far conducted over 70.54 Cr (70,54,11,425) cumulative tests.
While testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country was 14.92% on January 18, 2022, while the Daily Positivity rate was 14.43%.
Meanwhile, with the administration of nearly 80 lakh (79,91,230) vaccine doses in last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 158.04 Crore (1,58,04,41,770) as per provisional reports till 7 am January 18, 2022.
