New Delhi : India logged 21,257 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, down from 22,431 cases on October 7, taking the tally of cases registered so far in the country to 3,39,15,569 at 8 am on October 8, 2021. Less than 50,000 Daily New Cases have been reported for 103 consecutive days now.
On the other hand, a total of 24,963 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the last 24 hours, up from 24,602 recoveries on October 7, taking the tally of recoveries in the country to 3,32,25,221 on October 8, 2021, with the recovery rate (RR) improving to 97.96% from 97.95% on October 7. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
The Active Caseload was 2,40,221 on October 8, a further drop of 3,977 cases in last 24 hours, the lowest in 205 days. Active cases accounted for 0.71% of the country’s total Positive Cases on October 8.
With the administration of 50,17,753 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage crossed the landmark of 93 crore (93,17,17,191) as per provisional reports till 7 am on October 8, 2021. This has been achieved through 90,68,525 sessions.
The last 24 hours saw a total of 13,85,706 sample tests being conducted in the country. India has so far conducted over 58 crore (58,00,43,190) cumulative tests.
The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.64% remains less than 3% for the last 105 days now. The Daily Positivity rate was 1.53% on October 8. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for last 39 days and below 5% for 122 consecutive days now.
India reported 271 new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours, down from 318 deaths on October 7, taking the toll to 4,50,127 in the country on October 8, 2021.
