Patna : India hammered Sri Lanka (SL) by 6 wickets in the 3rd T20I at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala, on February 27, 2022, late night, making a clean sweep of the three-match series as Shreyas Iyer scored an unbeaten 73 in 45 balls hitting 9 fours and 2 sixes, his third fifty in the series, while all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja remained 22 not out in 15 balls with 3 fours. Iyer had scored an unbeaten 57 runs in 1st T20I, an unbeaten 74 in 2nd T20I, and an unbeaten 73 in 3rd T20I. Iyer was named both Player Of The Match and Player Of The Series.
Chasing a target of 147 runs, India scored 148/4 in 16.5 overs with 3.1 overs to spare. Iyer and Jadeja added 45 runs in their unbroken partnership for the 5th wicket.
Like SL, India too had a shaky start losing the wicket of captain Rohit Sharma ( opener) with only 6 runs on board. Rohit fell to fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera for 5 runs. Dushmantha has taken Rohit’s wicket six times in T20Is. Opener Sanju Samson and Iyer added 45 runs for the 2nd wicket. Samson fell yo fast medium bowler Chamika Karunaratne for 18 making it 51/2.
Iyer and Deepak Hooda then added 38 runs for 3rd wixket. Hooda fell to fast medium bowler Lahiru Kumara for 21 runs and it was 89/3. Venkatesh Iyer also fell to Kumara for 5 making it 103/4.
Earlier opting to bat after winning the toss, SL had scored 145/5 in 20 overs with captain Dasun Shanaka scoring a blistering 74 in 38 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes. Chandimal (wk) scored 222 runs.
