Patna : India hammered New Zealand (NZ) by 73 runs in the 3rd T20I at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, West Bengal, on November 21, 2021, late night, to sweep the three-match series 3-0 as spinner Axar Patel took 3/9 in 3 overs. Chasing a target of 185 runs, NZ were all out for just 111 runs in 17.2 overs with opener Martin Guptill scoring 51 runs in 36 balls hitting 4 fours and 4 sixes. Fast bowler Lockie Ferguson scored 14 runs in 8 balls hitting 2 sixes, both of fast medium bowler Harshal Patel. hit India had won the toss and opted to bat.

Batting first, India scored 184/7 in 20 overs with opener Rohit Sharma ( captain) scoring 56 runs in 31 balls hitting 5 fours and 3 sixes- two of fast bowler Lockie Ferguson and 1 of fast medium bowler Trent Boult. His opening partner Ishan Kishan fell to spinner Mitchell Santner ( captain) for 29 in 21 balls with 6 fours. Rohit and Ishan added 69 runs for the 1st wicket making it 69/1 after 6.2 overs. Suryakumar Yadav also fell to Santner in the same over for zero and it was 71/2. Vekatesh Iyer took the wicket of Adam Milne, his first international wicket.

Rishabh Pant (wk) fell to Santner for 4 and it was 83/3. Rohit fell to spinner Ish Sodhi for 56 runs making it 103/4 after 11.2 overs. Vekatesh Iyer fell to Boult for 20 in 15 balls hitting 1 four and 1 six making it 139/5. Shreyas Iyer fell to fast bowler Adam Milne for 25 in 20 balls with 2 fours and it was 140/6. fast medium bowler Harshal Patel fell to Ferguson ( hit wicket) for 18 in 11 balls hitting 2 fours and 1 six making it 162/7. Deepak Chahar remained unbeaten on 21 in 8 balls with 2 fours and 1 six. Spinner Mitchell Santner took 3/27 in 4 overs. Santnet took two wickets in 7th over.
