Patna : India declared their 2nd innings at 298/8 in 109.3 overs in second over after lunch in 2nd test against England at Lord’s, London, on August 16, 2021, with fast bowlers Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah adding an enterprising 89 runs in their unbroken partnership for the 9th wicket.

Shami remained unbeaten 56 in 70 balls hitting 6 fours and 1 six, his highest test score, while Bumrah remained unbeaten on 34 in 64 balls with 3 fours, his highest score in test. India took a lead of 271 runs dashing England’s hope of winning the 2nd test.

Chasing a target of 272 runs, England were 6/2 after 3 overs in their second innings with Jasprit Bumrah and Moh Shami taking one wicket each.  Opener Rory Burns fell to Bumrah for zero while his opening partner Dominic Simbley fell to Shami for zero.

Resuming at their overnight score of 181/6, India lost the wiket of Rishabh Pant (wk) with 194 runs on board. Pant fell to fast medium bowler Ollie Robinson for 22 runs in 46 balls with just 1 fours. fast bowler Ishant Sharma fell to Robinson for 16 in 24 balls with 2 fours and i was 209/8.

Thereafter, it was all a dazzling show of Shami-Bumrah duo. Bumrah, who had scored 28 runs in first innings of first test against England,  had to undergo mandatory concussion test twice after the balls hit his helmet . Bumrah, however, remained undeterred. Shami completed his fifty in 57 balls.
