Patna : India crushed West Indies (WI) by 107 runs in the 2nd ODI at Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam, India, with Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav taking his 2nd hat-trick in ODIs and fast bowler Mohammad Shami also taking three wicket. Kuldeep took hat-trick in his 8th over taking the wickets of Shai Hope, Jason Holder, and Aljarri Joseph. Jadeja took 2/74 in 10 overs. WI had won the toss but opted to bowl. The three-match ODI series is now level at 1-1. Rohit Sharma was declared Player of the Match.

Chasing a target of 388, WI were all out for 280 in 43.3 overs with opener Shai Hope (wk) scoring 78 in 85 balls hitting 7 fours and 3 sixes and Nicholas Pooran scoring 75 in 47 balls with 6 fours and 6 sixes. Nicholas Pooran hit spinner Ravindra Jadeja for 4 sixes, two each in his 7th and 8th over. Keemo Paul also hit him for a six.

Keemo Paul and Khary Pierre added 50 runs for the 9th wicket. Paul fell to Shami for 46 in 42 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Khary Pierre fell to Ravindra Jadeja for 21 in 18 balls with 3 fours. Kieron Pollard fell to Shami for a duck.

Although WI lost the match by a big margin, the three T20Is and two ODSs played so far have clearly indicated that Kieron Pollard led team is different from the teams that had played in India during the past few years. It is playing positive and fearless cricket taking the Indian bowlers to the cleaners.

Earlier batting first, India had posted 387/5 in 50 overs with openers Rohit Sharma and Lokesh Rahul scoring centuries adding 227 runs for the 1st wicket. Hit-Man Rohit Sharma scored 159 runs in 138 balls with 17 fours and 5 sixes, his 28th ODI ton including 7 tons in 2019. Rahul scored 102 in 104 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes, his 3rd ODI century.

Shreyas Iyer scored 53 in 32 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes while Rishabh Pant scored 39 in only 16 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes. Iyer and Pant added73 runs for the 4th wicket. Captain Virat Kohli, who had scored 4 runs in 1st ODI, fell to Kieron Pollard for a duck.
