Patna : India crushed New Zealand (NZ) by 372 runs in 2nd test at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, Maharashtra, on Day 3 of the match to win the two-match test series 1-0 on December 6, 2021, as spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and Jayant Yadav took four wickets each. Opener Mayank Agarwal, who scored 150 runs in first innings and 62 in second, was named Player of The Match while spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was named Player Of The Series. Ashwin took 8 wickets in 2nd test. It was Ashwin’s 10th Player Of The Series award. India gained 12 valuable WTC points by winning the 2nd test. India won the 2nd test by the largest margin till date.

Chasing a target of 540 runs, were all out for just 167 runs in their 2nd innings in the first session of the play on day 3 on December 6, 2021, suffering a humiliating defeat. NZ had defeated India in WTC Final a few months back. Resuming at their overnight score of 140/5, NZ were bundled out for 167 runs in second innings as Jayant Yadav took four wickets, NZ had scored a paltry 62 runs in their first innings. India had scored 325 runs in their 1st i nings and declared their 2nd innings at 276/6.

Jayany Yadav took 4/49 in 14 overs in NZ second innings while Ashwin took 4/34 in 22.3 overs. India had won the toss and opted to bat. Opener Tom Latham ( captain) scored 60 runs in NZ 2nd innings while Henry Nicholls scored 44 runs. India had won the three-match T20I series 3-0.
