Patna : India crushed Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs in the 2nd test, a D/N night with pink ball, in the first session of play on Day 3 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on November 24, 2019, to sweep the two-match series 2-0. Fast bowler Ishant Sharma was declared both Player of the Match and Play of the Series. Ishant took 9 wickets in the 2nd test – 5/22 in Bangladesh’s first innings and 4/56 in second innings. Umesh Yadav took 8 wickets in the match.

With this victory, India have now won 4 consecutive tests by an innings margin. Virat Kohli has now won 33 tests as captain. Graeme Smith (South Africa) had won 53 tests as captain.

Resuming at their overnight score of 152/6, Bangladesh, who had scored 106 in their first innings, were all out for 195 inĀ  41.1 overs their second innings in the first session of play on Day 3 with fast bowler Umesh Yadav taking 5/53 in 14.1 overs. Mushfiqur Rahim was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 74 in 96 balls with 13 fours. Mahmudullah had retired hurt on Day 2 after scoring 39.

India had declared their first innings at 347/9 in 89.4 overs on Day 2 with captain Virat Kohli scoring 136 in 194 balls hitting 18 fours, his 27th test ton.
