Patna :  India crushed Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs in just two days in the one off cricket test at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, on June 15, 2018, riding on superb bowling by spinners and fast bowlers. India bowled out Afghanistan twice on the second day to win the test raising questions whether Afghanistan really deserved to be granted test status. Replying to India’s first innings’ total of 474, Afghanistan collapsed to be all out for 109 in 27.5 overs in the first innings and asked to follow on capitulated for just 103 in 38.4 overs in the second innings. Incidentally, India batted for 26.5 overs on the second day too.

Ravindra Radeja took 6 wickets in the match while Ravichandran Ashwin took 5 wickets. Both Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma took 4 wickets each in the match. Jadeja took 2/18 in the first innings and 4/17 in the second innings. Ashwin took 4/27 in the first innings and 1/32 in second innings. Umesh Yadav took 1/18 in the first innings and 3/26 in the second innings. Ishant Sharma took 2/28 in first innings and 2/17 in second innings.

Hashmatullah Shahidi remained unbeaten on 36 with 6 fours while captain Ashgar Stanikzai scored 25 in Afghanistan’s second innings.

India had scored 474 in their first innings with openers Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay scoring centuries while Hardik Pandya scored 71, Lokesh Rahul 54, and Pujara 35. Umesh Yadav remained unbeaten on 26 while Jadeja scored 20. Murali scored his 12th test century in the match while Dhawan scored his 6th. Dhawan became the first Indian cricketer to score a century in 87 ball before lunch on day1.
