Patna : India beat West Indies (WI) by 6 wickets in the 1st T20I at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, West Bengal, on February 16, 2022, night, to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series as captain Rohit Sharma hit a blazing 40 in 19 balls hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes including two off medium fast bowler Odean Smith and 1 off fast medium bowler Romario Shepherd while Suryakumar Yadav scored an unbeaten 34 in 18 balls with 5 fours and 1 six. India had won the toss and opted to bowl.
Chasing a target of 158 runs, India scored 162/4 in 18.5 overs as openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan ( 35 in 42 balls) added 64 runs for the first wicket in only 7.3 overs.
