Patna : India defeated Sri Lanka (SL) by 7 wickets in the 2nd T20I at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India, to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. India won the toss but opted to bowl. Fast bowler Navdeep Saini was declared Player of the Match. The first T20I was abandoned due to wet outfield.

Chasing a target of 143, India scored 144/3 in 17.3overs with opener Lokesh Rahul scoring 45 in 32 balls hitting 6 fours while Shikhar Dhawan scored 32 in 29 balls hitting 2 fours. Shreyas Iyer scored 34 in 26 balls with 3 fours and a six . Captain Virat Kohli and Rishabh pant (wk) remained unbeaten 0n 30 and 1 runs respectively. Iyer and Kohli added 51 runs for the 3rd wicket. Kohli scored an unbeaten 30 in 17 balls with 1 four and 2 sixes.

Earlier, openers Lokesh Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan had 71 runs for the first wicket. Rahul fell to spinner Wanindu Hasaranga making it 71/1. Dhawan also fell to Hasaranga making it 86/2. Iyer fell to fast bowler Lahiru Kumara making it 137/3.

Batting first, SL scored 142/9 in 20 overs with Kusal Perera scoring 34and openers Danushka Gunathilaka and Avishka Fernando scoring 20 and 22 runs respectively. Shardul Thakur took 3/23, Navdeep Saini 2/18 and Kuldeep Yadav 2/38. Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar took one wicket each.
