Patna : India defeated Sri Lanka (SL) by 3 wickets in 2nd ODI at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, SL, on July 20, 2021, night, with medium fast bowler Deepak Chahar scoring a match winning unbeaten 69 in 82 balls hitting 7 fours and 1 six, his maiden ODI fifty, and Suryakumar Yadav scoring 53 run in 44 balls with 6 fours, his first ODI fifty. With this, India have now taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Deepak Chahar was declared Player Of The Match.

Sl had won the toss and opted to bat.  SL scored 275/9 in 50 overs with Charith Asalanka scoring 65 in 68 balls with 6 fours. India scored 277/7 in 49.1 overs. Leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga took 3/37 in 10 overs.

Chasing  a target of 276 runs, India had lost their 6th wicket at 160 runs when Suryakumar Yadav fell to Sandakan. But, thereafter lower middle turned the table on Sri Lanka.
