Patna : India defeated New Zeaaland (NZ) by 7 wickets in 2nd T20Iat JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi, Jharkhand, on November 19, 2021, late night, as openers Rohit Sharma ( captain) and K L Rahul scored brilliant fifties adding 117 runs for the first wicket. With this win, India have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in three-match series. Fast medium bowler Harshal Patel was named Player Of The Match.

Chasing a target of 154 runs, India scored 155/3 in 17.2 overs with Rishabh Pant (wk) hitting back to back sixes of James Neesham on the first two balls of of 18th overs.

India had won the toss and opted to bowl. Batting first, NZ scored 153/6 in 20 overs with Glenn Phillips scoring 34 in 21 balls hitting 1 four and 3 sixes while openers Martin Guptill and Daryl Mitchess scored 31 runs each. For India, debutant fast medium bowler Harshal Patel took 2/25 in 4 overs.

Chasing the target, Rohit and Rahul added 100 runs in only 70 balls. Rahul fell to Tim Southee for 65 runs in 49 hitting 6 fours and 2 sixes. Rohit Sharma also fell to Southee for 55 in 36 balls hitting 1 four and 5 sixes- three of spinner Mitchell Santner and two of fast bowler Adam Milne. Venkatesh Iyer and Pant remained unbeaten on 12 run each.

Tim Southee took two wickets that of Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav (1) in 16th overs to finish with 3/16 in 4 overs.
