Patna : India were bundled out for a paltry 78 runs in 40.4 in their first innings in 3rd test against England at Headingley, Leeds, UK, in the second session of play of Day 1 on August 25, 2021, with fast bowler James Anderson and Craig Overton taking three wickets each and Sam Curran and Ollie Robinson taking two wickets each.
Playing a test match at Headingley after 19 years, India were off to a horrible start their first three wickets including opener Lokesh Rahul (0), Cheteshwar Pujara (1), and captain Virat Kohli (7), for just 21 runs in 10.5 overs with James Anderson spitting fire taking all the three wickets. Opener Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane added 35 runs for the 4th wicket. Rahane fell to Robinson for 18 in 54 balls hitting 3 fours and it was 56/4. Rishabh Pant (wk) fell to Robinson for 2 making it 58/5.
Opener Rohit Sharma fell to Overton for 19 in 105 balls with 1 four and it was 67/6. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also fell at the same score to Sam Curran for 4 making it 67/8. Fast bowler Mohd Shami fell to Overton for zero making it 67/9. Fast bowler Ishant Sharma remained unbeaten on 8 in 10 balls with 1 four.
