India all out for 252 in 5th ODI against NZ, Pandya hits 45 in 22 balls

Patna : India were all out for 252 in 49.5 overs in the 5th ODI against New Zealand (NZ) at Westpac Stadium, Wellington, New Zealand, on February 3, 2019, riding on an explosive batting display by Ambati Rayudu scoring 90 in 11 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes and a hurricane knock by all-rounder Hardik Pandya scoring 45 in just 22 balls hitting 2 fours and 5 sixes. India elected to bat after winning the toss.

The top order failed yet again against the swinging balls and India were 18/4 after 9.3 overs with captain Rohit Sharma ( 2), Shikhar Dhawan (6), Subham Gill (7), and wicketkeeper M S Dhoni (1) back to the pavilion. But, Rayudu and all-rounder Vijay Shankar steadied the innings adding 98 runs for the 5th wicket. Vijay was run out for 45 in 64 balls with 4 fours making it 116/5. Rayudu then added 74 runs with Kedar Jadhav for the 6th wicket. Rayudu fell just 10 runs short of his century making it 190/6. Jadhav fell to Matt Henry for 34 in 45 balls with 3 fours making it 203/7 in 45.2 overs.

Hardik Pandya hit spinner Todd Astle, 32, for three consecutive sixes in 47th overs. Pandya then hit fast bowler Trent Boult for a six in 48th overs on a ball bowled at 142kph. He also hit pacer James Neesham for 2 fours and a six in the 49th over. Pandya, however, fell to Neesham on the last ball of 49th over making it 248/8. Pandya added 45 runs with Bhuvaneshwar Kumar for the 8th wicket. Kumar fell to Trent Boult for 6 while Mohammad Shami was run out for zero.

For New Zealand, fast bowler Matt Henry, 27,  took 4/35 in 10 overs while Trent Boult took 3/39 in 9.5 overs. Neesham took 1/33 in 5 overs.
