Patna : Chasing a target of 133 runs, India were 87/2 after 14 overs in 2nd T20I against New Zealand (NZ) at Eden Park, Auckland, New Zealaand, on January 26, 2020, with opener Lokesh Rahul batting on 42 hitting 2 fours and a six and Shreyas Iyer unbeaten on 25 with a six off spinner Ish Sodhi. Rahul and Iyer have so far added for the3rd wicket.

India made a disastrous start losing the wickets of Rohit Sharm and captain Virat Kohli with only 39 runs on board. Rohit fell to pace Tim Southee for 8 hitting 2 fours. Kohli also fell to Southee for 11 in 12 balls hitting 1 four.

Earlier electing to bat after winning the toss, NZ scored 132/5 in 20 overs with openers Martin Guptil and Colin Munro scoring 33 and 26 runs respectively adding 48 runs for the 1st wicket. Guptil fell to fast bowler Shardul Thakur for 33 in 20 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes making it 48/1 while Munro fell to Shivam Dube for 26 in25 balls with 2 fours and a six making it 68/2. Guptil hit Thakur for 2 sixes on successive balls in his first over.

All-rounder Colin de Grandhomme fell to spinner Ravindra Jadeja for 3 and it was 74/3. NZ captain Kane Williamson too fell to Jadeja for 14 in 20 balls making it 81/4. Ross Taylor fell to fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah for 18 in 24 balls and it was 125/5. Tim Seifert (wk) remained unbeaten on 33 in 26 balls with 1 four and 2 sixes.

For India, Ravindra Jadeja took 2/18 in 4 overs while Jasprit Bumrah took 1/21 in 4 overs. Shardul Thakur took 1/21 in 2 overs while Shivam Dube took 1/16 in 2 overs. Indian bowler did a fine job of restricting NZ to just 132/5.
