Shubman Gill fell lbw to medium fast bowler Tim Southee for 8. His opening partner Rohit Sharm also fell lbw to Soouthee for 30 in 81 balls with just 2 fours just before stumps, one of his slowest innings. Rohit & Gill added 24 runs for the first wicket. Rohit Sharma and Pujara then added 27 runs for the second wicket. India had scored 217 runs in their first innings.
