Patna : Chasing a target of 464 runs to win the match, India made a disastrous start to their second innings in the 5th cricket against England on the 4th days at Kennington Oval, London, losing their first three wickets including that of Captain Virat Kohli for just 2 runs on the board and are staring at defeat.

Opener Shikhar Dhawan was out for just 1 run when the score was 1. Cheteswar Pujara, one of the most dependable batsmen of India, was out for duck at the same score. Kohli was also out without scoring when the team score was just 2. Open Lokesh Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane then steadied the innings with a 56 run unbroken partnership for the 4th wicket. Rahul was batting on 46 and Rahane on 10 at stumps on day 4.India still need 406 runs to win the match.

Earlier, England declared their second innings at 423/8 riding on 147 in 286 ball with 14 fours by opener Alastair Cook, his 33rd test century, and 125 in 190 ball with 12 fours and a six by captain Joe Root, his 14th test century. Ben Stokes made 37 while wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow made 18. Jos Buttler was out without scoring.

For India, Ravindra Jadeja and Hanuma Vihari took three wickets each while Mohammad Shami took two wickets. Jadeja has taken 7 wickets in the match besides scoring an unbeaten 86 in India’s first innings.
