Patna : India struggled to reach 57/2 in 17 overs in their second innings at stumps on day 2 in 3rd test against South Africa (SA) at Newlands,Cape Town, SA, on January 12, 2022, with Captain Virat Kohli unbeaten on 14 in 39 balls with 2 fours and Cheteshwar Pujara batting on 9 in 31 balls with 2 fours. India lead by 70 runs.

India lost the wickets of both the openers : K L Rahul and Mayank Agarwal, with only 24 runs on board. Mayank fell to fast bowler Kagiso Fabada for 7 making it 20/1. Rahul, on the other hand, fell to fast bowler Marco Jansen for 10 making it 24/2. Kohli and Pujara have added 33 runs in in 69 balls in their unbroken partnership for the 3rd wicket.

Earlier, SA were all out for 210 in their first innings in the third session of play on day 2 with Keegan Petersen scoring 72 runs in 166 balls with 9 fours. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah took 5/42. India had scored 223 runs in their first innings with fast bowler Kagiso Rabada taking 4/73.
