Patna : Electing to bat after winning the toss, India were 53/3 in 26 overs at lumch on day 1 in their first innings in 2nd test against South Africa (SA) at the Wanderer Stadiums, Johannesburg, SA, on January 3, 2022, with fast medium bowler Olivier Duanne, 29, taking 2/27 in 9overs and fast bowler Marco Jansen, 21, taking 1/2 in 4 overs.
Olivier took the wickets of Cheteshwar Pujara ( 3 in 33 balls) and Ajinkya Rahane (0) on successive balls in his 8th overs, the 24th of the innings. Rahane fell to Olivier for a first ball duck. It was Olivier’s 50th test wicket in his 11th over.
India began well with openers K L Rahul ( Captain) and Mayank Agarwal adding 36 runs for the first wicket in 14.1 overs. But, Mayank fell to marco Jansen for 26 in 37 balls with 5 fours. India have never lost a test at Wanderers. Rahul is unbeaten on 19 in 74 balls with 4 fours while Hanuma Vihari is batting on 4.
Regular captain Virat Kohli is not playing in 2nd test due to upper back spasm. Hanuma Vihari has returned to Team India. India lead the three-match test series 1-0.
