Patna : India were 468/7 in their first innings in 1st test against Sri Lanka (SL) at lunch on day 2 on March 5, 2022, at Punjab Cricket Association I S Bindra Stadium, Mohali, Punjab, with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scoring his second test century and spinner Ravichandra Ashwin scoring 61 in 82 balls with 8 fours.
Resuming at their overnight score of 357/6, Jadeja and Ashwin added 105 runs in the first session on day 2. Ashwin fell to medium fast bowler Suranga Lakmal for 61 making it 462/7. Ashwin and Jadeja added 130 runs for the 7th wicket. The highlight of their partnership was that they kept rotating the strike not going for the flashy shots. Both Jadeja and Ashwin hit fast medium bowler Vishwa Fernando for 2 fours each though on day 2. Jadeja is still batting on 104 runs with 10 fours.
