Patna : India were 40/2 after 16 overs in theirĀ first innings in the second test against Australia at Perth Stadium, Perth, Australia, on December 15, 2018, with captain Virat Kohli batting on 21 with 4 fours and Cheteshwar Pujara batting on 11 with one four. India made a disastrous start to their first innings in the second test losing both their openers with only 8 runs on board. Murli Vijay fell to fast bowler Mitchell Starc for duck while Lokesh Rahul fell to Josh Hazlewood for 2.
Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 277/6, Australia were all out for 326 in the first session of the play on December 15 adding 49 runs to their total. Pat Cummins fell to fast bowler Umesh Yadav for 19 when the score was 310. Cummins added 59 runs with Captain and wicketkeeper Tim Paine for the 7th wicket. Paine fell to fell to pacer Jasprit Bumrah for 38 on the same score making it 310/8. Ishant Sharma took the wickets of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood.
For India, Ishant Sharma took 4/41 in 20.3 overs while Bumrah took 2/53 in 26 overs. Umesh Yadav took 2/78 in 23 overs while part-time spinner Hanuma Vihari took 2/53 in 14 overs.
