Earlier, England, who had scored 578 in their first innings with captain Joe Root scoring 218 runs, were all out for just 178 runs in their second innings in the third session of play on Day 4 on with Root scoring 40 runs. Spinner Ravichandra Ashwin took 6/61 in England 2nd innings to finish with a 9 wicket haul in the match.
Resuming at their overnight score of 257/6, India were all out for 337 in 95.5 overs in their first innings in the first session of play on Day 4 with Washington Sundar scoring an unbeaten 85 in 138 balls with 12 fours and 2 sixes and Ravichandran Ashwin scoring 31 in 91 balls with 3 fours and 1 six.
