India 273/3 in 1st innings at stumps on Day 1 in 2nd test against SA, Agarwal hits 108

Patna : Opener Rohit Sharma getting out early notwithstanding India were 273/3 in 85.1 over at stumps on Day 1 in their first innings in the 2nd test against South Africa (SA) at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, on October 10, 2019, with captain Virat Kohli unbeaten on 63 in 105 balls hitting 10 four and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane batting on 18 in 70 balls with 3 fours. Kohli and Rahane have so far added 75 runs in their unbroken partnership for the 4th wicket. India had won the toss and opted to bat.

Opener Mayank Agarwal scored 108 in 195 balls with 16 fours and 2 sixes, his second consecutive ton in the series.  Batting on 87, Agarwal hit two sixes on consecutive balls in 17th over spinner Keshav Maharaj to reach 99. In the next over he hit pacer Vernon Philander for 4 to hit his second century of the series in 183 balls. He fell to fast bowler Kagiso Rabada. Earlier, Agarwal and Cheteswar Pujara added 138 runs for the 3rd wicket. Pujara fell to Rabada for 58 in 112 balls with 9 fours and a six. Rabada had earlier accounted for Rohit Sharma (14). Rabada has taken 3/48 in 18.1 over.
