Patna : India were 270/3 after 92 overs at stumps on Day 3 in their second innings in 4th test against England at Kennington Oval, London, UK, on September 4, 2021, night, with captain Virat Kohli batting on 22 in 37 balls hitting 4 fours while all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was unbeaten on 9 in 23 balls.

Kohli and Jadeja have added 33 runs run so far in their unbroken partnership for the 4th wicket. Bad light forced early stumps. India, who had scored 191 runs in their first innings, lead by  lead 171 runs. England had scored 290 runs in their first innings.

England had taken new ball after 80 overs. After a few overs with the new balls, the Umpires told England captain Joe Root that poor light was not conducive to fast bowling. England opted for spin bowling for few overs but later pleaded that they were not ready to operate spinners with new ball. Umpires waited for sometime for light to improve but it did not improve  foring early stumps.

England, however, had success with the new ball with fast medium bowler Ollie Robinson taking two wickets that of opener Rohit Sharma ( 127 runs in 256 balls) and Cheteshwar Pujara ( 61 runs in 127 balls) and it was 237/3. Earlier, Opener K L Rahul fell to James Anderson for 46 in 101 balls making it 83/1.

Rohit and Pujara added 153 runs in 278 balls for 2nd wicket. Rohit scored his first century in tests overseas and 8th overall.
